Anti-harassment policy

The goal of the Questioning Reality project is to engage in vigorous debate, insightful questioning, and engaging collaborations regarding immersive technologies in our social worlds. In the spirit of maintaining a safe, inclusive, respectful, and productive rhetorical, digital, and physical spaces for this project we ask that participants adhere to the following anti-harassment policy.

We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming conference environment for all participants, free from harassment based on age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, language, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, disability, health conditions, socioeconomic status, marital status, domestic status, or parental status.

We expect our participants to treat one another, as well as staff and conference assistants, with the utmost professionalism, civility, and respect. Harassment of any participant is clear violation of the ethos of the Questioning Reality project. Harassment can consist of a single intense of severe act or multiple persistent or pervasive acts which are demeaning, abusive, or offensive. Harassment may include, but is not limited to, sexual solicitation, physical advance, or verbal or non-verbal conduct that is sexual in nature; it may also include threatening, intimidating, or hostile acts; circulation of written or graphic material that denigrates or shows hostility toward an individual or group; epithets, slurs, or negative stereotyping based on group identity.

Attendees are encourage to immediately report instance of harassment during, before, or after the conference to Helen Lasthiotakis, Director of Operations and Strategy at the Data Sciences Institute, University of Toronto at h.lashtiotakis@utoronto.ca. During the QR conference any issues may be immediately reported to Bree McEwan or Grace Ahn.
